If the hills are in fact alive, then they are PISSED! NBC has taken it upon themselves to besmirch the name of St. Julie Andrews' iconic roll as Maria Von Trapp and hand it over to the American Idol winner turned superstar Carrie Underwood. Next year we can expect a three hour "live broadcast" of The Sound of Music as interpreted by the producers of Smash (this should be good.) Here's what the head hauncho at NBC has to say:
"Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn't be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp. She was an iconic woman who will now be played by an iconic artist.”
Ummmm...don't get me wrong but lets not compare Julie mo' fuggin Mary Poppins Andrews to Carrie "I dug my keys into the side" Underwood. I think Carrie is MEGA talented BUT I'd really rather not see her first dabble in acting take place while trying to play the governess of ALL governesses. Don't hate me but I think Anne Hathaway would have been awesome, she atleast has a more classic old timey vibe. Carrie is too modern and it's RUINING MY LIFE!
THE ONLY FIX FOR THIS: Cast Ryan Gosling as the Captain. That doesnt necessarily make sense...buuuut in this instance I'm willing to suspend disbelief.
Evidence below that its just not a great fit, is anyone with me on this??
Who is your dream Maria Von Trapp? (besides Julie OBVS)
The guys from Maroon 5 have certainly switched up their image for the V era — at least, visually. Their “Maps” video told the story of a fatal car crash in reverse and the just-released clip for new single “Animals” plays like a mini-horror movie. Adam Levine stars as a creepy butcher with a bad habit of stalking female customers including real-life wife Behati Prinsloo.
I decided that my life had taken a turn for the worse, when I was saddened by a scheduling error on the part of Soap Net. I feel a change has to be made when you are watching reruns of The OC everyday at 2pm. So now...I blog.
