I was a little bit confused when Anne Hathaway showed up on Sunday wearing a pale pink Prada as opposed to her go-to Valentino. He is after all the man who designed her wedding dress, so you would think he would be her first choice to design the 2nd most important dress of her life (or 1st depending on where her priorities are at.)
Rumor has it that Anne was slated to wear the gorgeous ivory Valentino S/S 2013 gown shown above, but found out at the last minute that it looked A LOT like the Alexander McQueen dress her Les Mis co-star Amanda Seyfried was going to wear. UH OH.
When asked by Ryan Seacrest, Anne said that she "didn't know what I was wearing until about three hours ago," and that "This is the one that spoke to me in the end."
Even though Anne's simple pink number is starting to grow on me...I think the high neckline of the Valentino would have been amazing with her short hair!
Anne has released a statement to People.com:
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
